Nathan L Gregory on IMDB

Nathan L. Gregory Started his Studies at College of DuPage in Illustration, Advertising and Design. He then started to experiment with photography. Nathan understood if he applied his fine art skills with the idea of using light as his paint brush to designing pictures at 24 ‘paintings’ per second, he needed to get out and away from a cramped desk.

He spent most of his early years working with his father wiring houses as an electrician, Putting his mothers camera's, and her wallet, through extreme conditions just to see what they where capable of, as well as putting on plays for the neighbors and making short films with his brothers.

He needed to combine all these artistic values into one. He needed hands. He needed to work with heavy ‘artillery’. He needed to be in charge of a collaboration of artists working on one large Mural. He needed to tell stories. He needed to become a Cinematographer.

After achieving his Associates Degree at College of DuPage in the Advertising, Design, and Illustration, he voyaged off to the production side of movie making. He chose Columbia College for the ground work of his studies. He worked through their coarse in the cinematography program. He found that his skill was helped in his earlier studies as an Illustrator/Designer at the College of DuPage. This gave him a leg up and catapulted him on the fast track to professionalism. He achieved many awards during his time at Columbia and immediately started working in the industry, as he was attending school at Columbia.

Since then he has had solid years of experience and training on set production. He’s an expert on lighting design, Composition, and the understanding of the prep-work for post production. He is Skilled in the array of color theory and creative visual impressions on any given audience . Due to his Columbia studies and exstensive work on the field. He has met many filmmakers and can add them to you’re crew. From a green (novice) Grip to a whole 3-5 Ton Grip truck of union crew to run it! He has access to any gear you would need to make a film. And could find you any empty department slots you need to get the job done. So what more do you need. Feel free to look around the site to see his work!

RECOMMENDATIONS

“I didn't know Nathan when I hired him to be my Gaffer on Fancypants. He talked the talk and came highly recommended. But I didn't know if he would be able to do all the things I had for him. I was the director of photography but I needed to split my time running electric because noone else could. In my absence, Nathan did everything I needed, lit the film beautifully and added some nice touched that I didn't expect. I couldn't have chosen a better gaffer for the film.” January 2, 2010
Jim Andremanaged Nathan at Humble pie Films

“To Whom It May Concern,
In the summer of 2008 I had the pleasure of working with Nathan Gregory during production of our feature film, “Fancypants,” starring Roddy Piper and Robert Carradine. We hired Nathan as a gaffer for the production, to help lead the lighting and grip team. He is tremendously kind and thoughtful, was an excellent asset to the team, and is very skilled in his field. Thanks to him we have a beautifully shot film in the can. He has a strong work ethic, working all hours and inconveniencing himself many times for the sake of the production and others. He went above and beyond the call of duty to take great care to light and shoot scenes to look the absolute best, and worked hard on large-scale scenes including the climax of the film, a wrestling match in a huge auditorium. At all times and in many stressful situations, he was thoroughly professional and kind, even when some crewmembers and extras were not. Our companies have hired Nathan several other times since then for smaller film and video shoots, and he consistently delivers excellent results. I would be privileged to work with Nathan again, and I whole-heartedly give him my recommendation. Sincerely, President Humble Pie Films, Inc.” January 15, 2010

Tom Wood, Cinematographer, Freelance

“Nathan is the type of person you want on your film set. He knows what he's doing, while keeping a cool head. He's lighthearted and has fun, but not at the expense of others. I've seen Nathan carry a set on his shoulders due to lack of preparation from others. He's great to collaborate with and always has creative input. I've had the privilege to work with him on two separate projects and would definitely work on more together if the opportunity presents itself.” February 25, 2009
Brian Sly, Director

“Nathan offers a great professional commitment to his work. I met him during a film I worked on for Peace Productions. Nathan was Director of Photography for that festival-bound short film, and he easily managed both his crew and every shot. I noticed his patience and precision as he set up a variety of tricky shots in many indoor and outdoor locations. Although I was just an actor on that project, I've also produced films and I would strongly recommend Nathan for his DP work.” February 25, 2009
Steve Scholz, Actor

“Nathan is an enjoyable individual with a great sense of humor combined with a professional work ethic. On the set, Nathan knows what he wants, wasting no time in lighting and shooting. He's had ample experience and shows it.” April 14, 2009

“Nate is one of those people in the industry that everyone else measures up to. Always professional, competent in every aspect of his craft, and extremely fun to be around! I get excited to be working with him every time!” April 3, 2010
Andrew Heller, Freelancer , Event Production Services reported to Nathan at Stouffer's Commercial

“Nate Gregory was my cinematographer on the short film "Gambler's Mirage." His dependability was exceeded only by his fierce technical skills and his gift for visual composition. Before we shot the first frame, I knew I would want to work with him again.” January 7, 2010 Top qualities: Great Results , Expert , Creative
Mario Bobzin, Director

“I was the camera operator on this project. We called Nathan in to do some of the more technical lighting for some outdoor rain scene. As always, Nathan was professional and got the job done quickly. He got the grip/electric crew organized and even put in a special order for some flash bulbs we used for the lighting. I highly recommend Nathan to any production that needs a true chief electrician with abilities to masterfully dictate lighting.” April 26, 2010
